The Kiss was painted by the Austrian painter, Gustav Klimt between 1907 and 1908, the highlight of his “Golden Period”. A perfect square the picture depicts a couple embracing, their bodies entwined in elaborate robes decorated in a style influenced by both linear constructs of the contemporary Art Nouveau style and the organic forms of the earlier Arts and Crafts movement.
This is such a popular piece that I had to attempt it as well. I purchased The Kiss as a tapestry that is hanging in the living room of our home. The embrace, the depth of their love, the passion, is a testimonial to our marriage of almost 60 years.
